Where ever you are, finding good food is one of the most important things to do. San Francisco and the Northern California region offer some of the most delectable and oftentimes affordable options, ranging from seafood to Italian to garlic-infused goodness. Venture on to find restaurant suggestions based on geographical location while in the Bay Area.

While Downtown has the hustle and bustle of shopping, shipping and business, there are also a few do-not-miss restaurants nestled within the buildings and bustle. Gary Danko on North Point at Hyde is a uniquely California-infused eatery with dishes reflecting the laidback innovative mixtures of culture and culinary delight found throughout Californias diverse population. While the dishes served are taste tantalizers in themselves, do not pass up the cheese cart, offering traditional favorites, twists on the recognizable and the truly rare. The waitstaff are friendly and the atmosphere reflects the fusion of culture found in the food.

Fission is a pseudo-intellectuals hot spot. The head chef offers tiny bites to compliment the exploding cocktail menu, decked out with some of the most creative mixtures this side of the Mississippi. With a wine encyclopedia that never seems to end, choices in dining room atmosphere vary almost as extensively as the drink options. Decked out in retro-modern detail, Fission becomes a hot spot for the 20/30 somethings as night turns to early morning, so pick your time wisely.

In the North Beach area Maykadeh Persian Cuisine is the perfect first date restaurant because of the distinct classiness, but affordable prices. Knowing the Californians love of alternative diets, Maykadeh offers a large variety of vegetarian and vegan options fused with authentic tasting Middle Eastern spices and textures. The ambience is inviting and the waitstaff are extremely personable. I would suggest giving the Khoresht bademjan a try. Any vegetarian will begin to salivate at the deep-red stew of tomato and eggplant complemented by a rich, sweet, almost chocolatey undertone.

In the SoMA district you must hit up AsiaSF. A bar/club known for its female impersonators, AsiaSF offers visitors a unique dining experience with hourly performances of some of the most convincing drag queens. The food is moderately priced, and you are waited on by some of the drag queens themselves. Tastes range from American to Asian-influenced, with a variety of flavors to stimulate all of your senses.

In the notoriously gay district of Castro you will find Firefly. Appearing as normal as a pride parade in San Francisco, Firefly is the quintessential neighborhood restaurant. Serving up a variety of American-type dishes with vegetarian, vegan, raw food and ethnic twists, Firefly is well loved by many of its local and tourist patrons. Undoubtedly your most comfortably eating experience, feel free to interact with the owner who emerges often to inquire at your satisfaction throughout the evening.

If youre craving some high quality fast food simply look for the glowing yellow arrows found over all In-N-Out Burger establishments. You have never had real quality fast food until you sit down at one of the brightly colored In-N-Out Burgers. With potatoes cut minutes before heading into the deep fryer, and milkshakes made from full cream vanilla ice cream and milk, In-N-Out Burger is a much-envied West Coast love. Well known for their high quality food, In-n-Out Burger is also known for its generous employee benefits and high-grade treatment. You will not find your run of the mill, unhappy BK worker at any In-N-Out.

While this has only been a short guide to some premier restaurants of the area, one can discover unique eateries by simply making your way on foot through any of the districts of San Francisco. SF is one of the safest cities to walk and has a reliable public transportation system that can take you anywhere in the city.
