There is so much to do in each San Francisco evening that you really need to keep an occasional eye on your watch. The city shuts down at 2 am and you need a modicum of discipline to make the most of the hours from twilight. Comedy Clubs are a special feature of San Francisco and getting tickets to a show you particularly want to see, is the only downside for this attraction. The Punch Line is the largest of this genre with both local and national stars. The Beach Blanket Babylon is known for its outrageous costumes and topical themes. The Bay Area Theatresports is a more interactive scenes with teams of comedians competing with each other and responding bravely to live and demanding audiences.
Popular music is pleasant and relaxing and many like it as a prime nightlife style. San Francisco has a large number of Clubs with the best standards of delightful music to entrance both casual listeners and serious lovers. Harry Dentons is a favorite to start the evening with a drink as the sun sets. The Saloon at Columbus Street features blues with a live band. It is one of the oldest spots in the city. The Boom Boom Room also features this type of music. Ruby Skyes, The EndUp at Harrison Street and Ten 15 at Sixth Street are big non-stop parties, each with a different theme each evening of the week. The Paradise Lounge at 11th Street is another Club with 3 dance floors between you can switch from one kind of music to another. Detour and Metro are typical San Francisco Clubs that are frequented by the gay. Slims at Folsom Street and Rasselas splurge on musical of all kinds including rock and jazz. You can also enjoy blues and some unusual styles at these pulsating spots. The Empire Plush Room features Cabaret, while Factory 525 is one of the most happening discos in town and stays open especially late until dawn.
The variety and numbers of places to visit San Francisco after dark can be quite bewildering. There are so many choices for each kind of entertainment that one should have several evenings to spread over a true sample of all the fun that the city has to offer.
