If you are visiting Anchorage Alaska on business or for a vacation, you may be wondering where you should eat. The decision on where to eat can be a tricky one, as there are so many different kinds of wonderful eateries in this city. If you are staying several days in Anchorage, then I suggest that you try a different taste each day. One day local cuisine, one day native cuisine, one day Italian cuisine, etc. In order to help you with your dining selections below is a descriptive list of some of the best restaurants in Anchorage.

#1: The Crows Nest C This uniquely Alaskan restaurant offers both French Cuisine and exotic hors doeuvres like: citrus-cured salmon gravlax, horseradish-marinated Dungeoness crab, and Caspian Sea caviar. Average dinners run $65 to $100, great for a special night out. Great views of the city.

#2: Sacks Caf C a four star rated restaurant that offers Alaskan Cuisine is one of the best places to stop for seafood and unique dishes created nightly by the house chefs. Moderately priced, top notch ingredients, and great atmosphere.

#3: Marx Bros. Caf C Four-star rated Greek style restaurant. High-end restaurant that offers fixed-price ethnic nights that feature cuisine from a specific region each night. This restaurant also offers patrons access to their 10,000-bottle wine cellar. Great place for anniversary, proposal, or special romantic evening as the atmosphere drips with candlelight and breath-taking views of the Cook Inlet.

#4: Sullivans Steakhouse C If you have a taste for more turf than surf than Sullivans Steakhouse is the place for you. Charming 1930s Speakeasy atmosphere mingles with the costumed wait staff, and 1930s dcor. House Cabernets and Merlots compliment the robust tastes of the prime grade-A steaks that are served to order. There are no vegetarian entrees available, but Alaskan seafood is featured.

#5: Thai Kitchen C If you are on a tighter budget, or want some good Thai food then visit the Thai Kitchen. Established in 1987 this restaurant has been serving up home-style Thai food to Anchorage residents and visitors for nearly 20 years. If you dont all ready have a favorite I suggest the traditional rice noodles with peanuts, or the tom yum kai for a tasty lunch.

#6: The Middle Way Caf and Coffeehouse C Again, not every meal needs to be seven courses. Sometimes a quick light lunch is just what it takes to get you going. For a healthy light bite, visit the Middle Way Caf and Coffeehouse. This caf specializes in organic cuisine and offers both vegetarian and meat options.

#7: Organic Oasis C Another organic pit stop is the Organic Oasis. This eatery offers a juice bar, espresso bar, and organic specialties like wheat grass shots, healthy salads, sandwiches, and soups. All guaranteed to energize you for your day of exploring the city or natural beauties that surround Anchorage.

#8: Mooses Tooth Pub & Pizzeria C A popular local hangout that serves brew, pizza, and salads. This restaurant is dedicated to the more laid back of patrons and offers dining at picnic style tables, and outdoorsy dcor. There are pizza toppings available to fit every taste bud, from Hawaiian style to the American favorite, pepperoni.

#9: Simon and Seaforts Saloon and Grill C The most popular surf and turf restaurant in Anchorage, offers fresh seafood, steaks, and rich desserts. One of the local favorite dessert dishes is the Grills Brandy ice. It is made by blending vanilla ice cream with Kahlua, brandy, and crme de cacao. This place is worth several visits.

What ever your taste is, tradition or exotic, Anchorage has a restaurant or caf that should tempt your taste buds. Be adventurous and try some local or native favorites as well as your old favorites. Seafood is the specialty of the area so make sure to try the salmon, and crab, but make sure to leave room for dessert.
