The Bahamas, located off the coast of south Florida, are seven-hundred islands with miles of the worlds best beaches. No more than thirty of the islands are inhabited and well established as one of the worlds top vacation sites. The following is a short guide to the Bahamas white, golden and pink sandy beaches.

The most popular islands of the Bahamas are New Providence with Nassau and Cable Beach. This island offers resorts and gambling with Las Vegas style entertainment. Cruise ships consider New Providence as one of its favorite stops. In downtown Nassau, there is Junkanoo Beach and Saunders Beach, which is a favorite of locals.

Paradise Beach of Nassau is on the western tip of Paradise Island and is usually not too crowded. The best beach on Paradise Island is Cabbage Beach, where families can enjoy snorkeling at the Atlantis Resort.

Cable Beach, considered the best beach in the Bahamas, is known for its powdery white sand and turquoise water. Almost four miles of high rise resorts line the shore along with plenty of activity. Past Cable Beach, is a lesser known beach called Caves Beach, which is a perfect beach to escape the crowds.

The Grand Bahamas Island with Lucaya and Freeport, is the place to go to enjoy watersports and beach activities. Xanadu Beach, Lucayan Beach and Taino Beach are the main resort beaches here and offer long, wide stretches of beach with crystal blue water and swaying palm trees. The Grand Bahamas will give you all the attractions of New Providence but not the overstatement.

If you are searching for the ultimate in seclusion, look east of Lucaya where you will find miles of deserted beach. You can choose from Churchill Beach, Smiths Point, Fortune Beach and Barbary Beach. There are no facilities or equipment rental around and no crowds to compete with for relaxation. These beaches are also called The Out Islands and are not easy to get to but well worth the trouble traveling by ferry or plane ride.

Besides the enjoyable weather and panoramic beaches of the Bahamas, the surrounding waters invite snorkeling, diving, fishing and scuba diving. There are also a string of tourist hotels, rustic lodges and all-inclusive resorts. More than three million vacationers a year choose the Bahama Islands as their prime destination for sun worshipping, casino gambling, eco-tourism and outdoor sports.

Tourism has exploded for the Bahamas because of its beaches. The warm water, crashing waves and the colorful seaworld underneath the clear blue waters surface make the beaches a treasure to behold. The weather is always pleasurable. There is The Dry Season from December to April and The Rainy Season from May to November. Even during The Rainy Season, the weather is very comfortable. Rain showers are usually pretty short and summers do get warm and humid, so be aware of that before scheduling your vacation. The Hurricane Season is from June through October but the odds are small that your trip to the Bahamas will be interrupted.

It is also good to know the difference between High Season and Off Season. High Season is from December through April and your stay would be more expensive during this time since it is the prime season for vacationers. Off Season is from May through November and is usually less expensive.

Direct flights to the Bahamas are usually active from most major east coast cities, as well as the Out Islands. Renting a car is not recommended since it is more convenient and economical to get around the islands by taxi.

The Bahamas are a great showcase for the Caribbean lifestyle. If you are looking to experience paradise or Caribbean culture, then pick a Bahamas beach and prepare to have fun on your memorable vacation.
