South Dakota offers some of the most breathtaking camping opportunities in The United States. Camping sites throughout the state offer visitors a chance to view acres of land where bison still roam freely as well as explore the trail of Lewis and Clarke.

The Lake Vermillion Recreation Area, located near Sioux Falls, is a popular camping and fishing destination for locals as well as travelers. The lake has two separate campgrounds that include electric hookups, water and showers. Lake Vermillion is famous for its great fishing and water sports. Canoes are available for rent for adventurers wanting to explore the lake and local waterways.

The Blue Bell Lodge and Resort, located at Custer State Park, offer visitors and campers a ranch atmosphere with chuck-wagon picnics and horseback riding available. The campground has many amenities including, showers, restrooms and a Laundromat. The most popular local attraction in the area is Custer State Park. With 71,000 acres, the park offers adventurers and history buffs a chance to ride the ancient Indian trails or discover entire herds of bison. The local park rangers throughout the park offer nature walks and historical demonstrations.
Lewis and Clark Lake is one of South Dakotas most popular camping destinations. The campground is completely modernized and offers visitors full amenities including, electricity, water, bathrooms and a restaurant. The numerous opportunities for activities include, water sports, volleyball, a soccer field and a disc golf course. The lake has become a regular destination for locals as a place to relax and camp while enjoying the great fishing.
