Those puffing away their favorite fags must watch out, as a survey establishes. Smokers are at a risk. Those who are puffing away as their favorite habit could be facing erectile dysfunction more commonly than their non-smoking counterparts, shows a survey. In an Australian survey of over 8,300 men aged 16-59 it was found out that Erectile Dysfunction was 40% more likely to occur among men who smoked more than 20 cigarettes a day than among the nonsmokers.

Also, erectile dysfunction was 24% more likely to occur among men who smoked up to 20 cigarettes per day, compared with nonsmokers. These findings have been published in Tobacco Control and are results of the work of researchers including Christopher Millet of the primary care and social medicine department of London's Imperial College.

The survey was conducted telephonically and had queried the addressees on various health subjects. The 27% of men who were contacted for survey have been smoking and most do 20 or less cigarettes a day. Men were asked if during the past one year had there been a period of one month or more when they had trouble keeping an erection when they wanted to. About 9% of the men replied in affirmation.

Smokers have been found to be suffering from erectile dysfunction a bit too commonly especially among those who go 20 or more cigarettes a day.

The said vital organs tend to sluggish over extended and long periods of smoking.
