When its time to plan that next family vacation, consider a trip to Utah. You might not realize it, but this state has a lot to offer in the way of family fun and adventure. In your effort to find tourist attractions that will be suitable for both adults and children, you might find these suggestions to be of some help when setting up your itinerary.
The Childrens Museum of Utah C located in Salt Lake City C offers over 140 exhibits, covering a variety of themes, in an interactive environment. Workshops and special performances are also available for visiting families. As part of their museum experience, your youngsters will be given the opportunity to explore exhibits such as Color Factory, Size Wise Gallery, Nine Mile Canyon and Little Star Theater. Kids will truly love the exhibit called Toy Tech, where they can pull apart toys and learn how to rebuild them. This wonderful exhibit teaches children about toys throughout the ages, how theyre made and what makes them work.
Also in Salt Lake City is Utahs Hogle Zoo C home to 1,100 animals from all points of the globe. Among its many inhabitants are the African Lion, Arabian Wildcat, Bornean Orangutan, Cotton-Top Tamarin, Tiger Salamander, Desert Night Lizard and the Giant Solomon Island Skink. In addition to the animal exhibits, there are also specialized events and programs, such as Meet-a-Keeper and the World of Flight Bird Show. All in all, this is a huge facility, offering a day of fun-filled activities and education for the entire family. Its a great way to provide the youngsters with an exciting day in the fresh air and sunshine, as well!
In Murray, youll find the Utah Fun Dome C a family amusement park, filled with thrilling rides and attractions for a day of outdoor fun. Among them are the Vertical Accelerator and the Horizontal Terrorizer, the Tornado, the Sizzler, the Himalayan and the Italian Carousel. Also available are bowling, Garden Golf and special events, such as magic shows and karaoke singing. Assorted concessions and park restaurants are located within the park for those times when visitors are in need of a bit of refreshment. Make a day of it in this wonderful park C itll be one of the highlights of the vacation for the youngsters!
Seven Peaks, Utahs largest waterpark, is located in Provo. Offering a huge tower and numerous slides, this is one vacation stop thats just perfect for a hot summers day! Among the many attractions, youll find the Boomerang, the Free Fall Slide, Lazy River, the Wave Pool and Adventure Bay. Theres also a huge activity pool, resembling a lagoon, as well as Tad Pole Pod for the youngsters and a number of cabanas which are located near the wave pool. The cabanas may be reserved seven days per week, with varying prices, depending upon the day and time requested. Forget the hotel swimming pool C treat your kids to Seven Peaks!
The Treehouse Museum, located in Ogden, is a marvelous place for kids to go C not just to look at exhibits, but to learn as they play. The interactive activities and programs that are offered by The Treehouse Museum are unique, in that the focus is on literacy and the arts. Kids from the age of 2 through 12 will find enjoyment in the Oval Office exhibit and the American Flag exhibit, for starters. The first sports two walls of former presidents, as well as a replica of the Presidents desk in the oval office of the White House. The latter is a stunning exhibit which focuses on the American flag and related information. The Treehouse Museum makes good on their promise of allowing children to step into a story.
Lagoon Amusement Park C in Farmington, Utah C is a multi-faceted family attraction, combining an amusement park, water park and western gun slinging village, as well as (in October) the frighteningly fun attraction, Frightmares. Enjoy your day at the park while riding The Cliffhanger, The Rocket, Samurai, Fire Dragon and Centennial Screamer. For more excitement, take a spin on Tidal Wave, Terroride, Boomerang Bumper Cars or the Hydro Luge. The kiddies will love Bulgy-the-Whale, Moonraker, Puff the Roller Coaster and the Red Baron, to name a few. For those who are looking for some watery fun, be sure to visit Lagoon A Beach C a waterpark, with its various tubes, slides, waterfalls and rapids. Go back in time and visit the Wild West in Pioneer Village, where youll get a peek at a frontier community C complete with gun slingers! This is definitely an all day family fun site, so dont forget the sunscreen!
Hardware Ranch, in Blacksmith Fork Canyon, offers quite a unique vacation experience. During the summer and fall, your family will enjoy a wagon ride with a nature guide through the valley to see the wildlife C the highlight here is that youll be taken to an area that large herds of elk inhabit. There are no guarantees of the number that you may or may not see during your ride, but visitors are often treated to a ride among abundant elk as they trek to the Visitors Center. When you finally reach the Sun Runner Ridge Caf, youll enjoy a hearty meal of barbeque chicken and ribs, with all the trimmings, before heading back. The entire trip typically lasts for approximately 2 ? hours. During the winter months, youll be taking the journey in a sleigh. A moonlight sleigh ride and dinner is an added benefit for parents whod like a bit of time away from the kids.
The Dinosaur Park and Museum, located in Ogden, will delight the imagination of young and old as you walk through the various exhibits and pay a visit to life-size dinosaurs that roamed the earth two hundred million years ago. These fascinating outdoor exhibits include Baryonyx Walkeri, Dilophosaurus Witherilli, Triceratops Horridus and Tyrannosaurus Rex, along with many of their friends and enemies. The museum C located on the outer rim of the park C houses a variety of hands-on exhibits from around the world. A gift shop and two playgrounds are also available within the park, inviting guests to relax and enjoy a full day of dinosaur adventure!
