A Functional Checklist for RV Camping
A checklist is a good idea when preparing for any trip. Nothing could be worse than arriving at your planned destination and discovering that you forgot one or two necessary items. Any trip can turn into a disaster if an essential item(s) is forgotten.
Before attempting any trip it is wise to have your RV inspected by a mechanic. A complete review of your RVs engine, tires, lights, and on-board systems to make sure that you can safely take your trip without fear of an unexpected breakdown.
You should have left an itinerary with a friend or family member. It will be easier to locate you if someone knows the route you had planned to take.
Have your mail held at the post office or have a friend pick it up daily. The same applies to the newspaper delivery. Nothing flags an empty house like mail and newspapers accumulating. Its the first thing a burglar will look for.
The following is a list of items that are necessary to assure that your planned trip will be an enjoyable one. However, every family has certain requirements that are specific to that family. Whether it is prescription medications or a favorite childs toy it can be added easily.
1. Set of tools to allows you to handle minor
repairs.
2. A multipurpose tool and knife.
3. Saw and an axe.
4. Blocks of 2x6 wood for use in the leveling of
your vehicle.
5. An assortment of Bungee cords.
6. A length of rope.
7. A portable Generator (if your RV is not
equipped with one).
8. Standard road flares.
9. Spare five-gallon gas can.
10. Maps of the areas you will be visiting.
11. A compass and a hand held signal mirror.
12. Whistle.
13. Cooking gas cylinder filled.
14. Bottled water.
15. A portable water filter or purifier.
16. Cooking Utensils.
17. Pots, Pans, Dishes, and silverware.
18. Can opener.
19. Funnel
20. Cutting Board.
21. Napkins and potholders.
22. One or two tablecloths and dishtowels.
23. Dishwashing liquid and pot scrubbers.
24. Dish drain.
25. Bucket
26. Aluminum foil, plastic wrap, plastic storage
canisters, and self-sealing plastic bags.
27. Brooms (including a small whisk broom).
28. Ice chest and a water cooler.
29. Garbage Bags.
30. Small portable charcoal grill.
31. Folding tables and stands.
32. Outdoor folding chairs.
33. Lanterns and fuel.
34. Candles.
35. Disposable lighters and matches in a
waterproof container.
36. Portable Radio with extra batteries.
37. Flashlights with extra batteries.
38. A supply of batteries for childrens games
and other gadgets.
39. One or two fire extinguishers.
40. A well stocked first aid kit.
41. A snake bite kit.
42. Sunscreen, lip balm, and sunburn lotion or
spray.
43. Insect repellent.
44. Toothpaste and toothbrushes.
45. Soap and shampoo.
46. Towels and washcloths.
47. Laundry bag for dirty clothes.
48. Toilet paper and facial tissues (Do not under
estimate the quantity of these items).
49. Books, Games, Cards, and writing materials
(The books should include travel guides to the
areas that you plan to visit).
50. Pillows, sleeping bags, and blankets.
51. Clothing for all expected weather plus a warm
coat and hat.
52. Money, spare set of keys, and identification.

54. Sunglasses and reading glasses
55. A supply of prescription medications
(if needed)
