For many people, camping is a time to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, the corporate world and the hectic life and enjoy nature at its best. Firewood is gathered, campfire food is prepared and tents are erected so families and friends can sleep under the starry night with only the sounds of nature to distract them. When a camping trip looms in the horizon, you will want to be sure you pack adequately so you can sit back, relax and enjoy yourself. Here is a list of items you will definitely want to pack for your next trip.

* Of course, you will need to pack clothes for your trip. Be sure to look at weather reports to determine what kind of outerwear (rain coats, jackets, fleece coats) or extra accessories (umbrella, snowshoes) you may need to pack in addition to your regular camping clothes (pants, shirts, underwear). Always pack a good pair of comfortable boots, in addition to several changes of clothes.

* Do not forget one of the most important things: the tent. If you are using a tent for the first time, set the tent up at home before your trip first, so it will be easier to assemble once you get to the camping grounds. Be sure you have all the equipment necessary to set up the tent once you arrive (stakes, material, instructions).

* If you are staying more than a few hours, have your food ready and your drinks in a cooler to get you through your entire trip. Other than bad weather, nothing will cut a trip short more than not having adequate food and cooking supplies. Also, dont forget marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate so you can make smores in the campfire. Be sure not to forget matches or a lighter and some lighter fluid to get the fire going strong.

* Whether or not there are restroom facilities near your camping site, bring along a few rolls of toilet paper. Especially if there are no facilities in the vicinity, you will not want to use any type of foliage when answering the call of duty. Remember to bring along your toiletries, like a toothbrush, toothpaste and cleansing products (shampoo and soap) if you will be camping for more than a day or two.

* Dont forget your sleeping bags and pillows so you do not have to sleep on the hard ground in your tent.

* If you will be hiking in the area, or if the campsite is in a remote location, dont forget to pack a map and compass so you can find your way around. If the area you will be camping in is in your cell phones service area, bring along your fully charged cell phone, as well, in case of an emergency.

* If you are camping during the summertime when mosquito season is at an all time high, you absolutely cannot forget the bug spray or you will be miserable all night long swatting flies off your body and face.

* A first aid kit is a good item to bring along, as well, for small emergencies like scrapes, cuts and insect bites.

* You will also not want to forget any games you will want to play with your friends and family like cards, board games and sports items (volleyball, Frisbee, basketball, etc.).
