Nexium is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease. Gastroesophageal reflux disease is also commonly known as GERD. Generic Nexium removes the excess amount of acid produced in the stomach. It is also useful to treat patients suffering from damaged esophagus caused by stomach acid also known as erosive esophagitis. Patients suffering from gastric ulcer caused by infection with helicobacter pylori, or by the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) also use Generic Nexium. Nexium is also used to treat the infection that causes most duodenal ulcers.

Generic Nexium can also be used for other medical purposes than those mentioned above.

How does Generic Nexium work? Generic Nexium treats heartburn and other symptoms caused by stomach acid. The acid flows backward into the canal to the esophagus causing burning sensation. It is generally advised in combination with antibiotics. How to consume Generic Nexium?

You are advised to take this medication as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. you should not take generic nexium in larger quatity or for longer duration than suggested by the doctor. The general time period for treatment is about 4 to 8 weeks. Only your doctor can decide whether or not you need another course of this medication. Nexium should be consumed about one hour before every meal with a full glass of water. Take this medication as it is, do not break, crush or open the capsule. By opening or breaking the capsule, you may cause too much of drug to release at one time.

If you have problems consuming the capsule, check with your doctor. He might advice you to open the capsule and sprinkle the drug onto a tablespoon of pudding or applesauce, so that it becomes easier to swallow. But remember, you should not chew the mixture, just swallow it down the throat. Also, the mixture should not be preserved for later use. Throw away the mixture and the used capsule.

You should take Nexium regularly to get the desired results expected from this medication. Always make sure that you have refills available with your, incase your medicine runs out completely. You might not be able to see any immediate effects after you start taking this medication. do no stop taking Generic Nexium, unless advice by your doctor. Complete the entire length of the course as prescribed by your doctor. Nexium is stored at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
