San Antonio, Texas is rich in history, from its abundant Mexican influences to its fierce historical battles. It is also rich in its paranormal activities from the train tracks where children still roam to the famous mission known the world over as the Alamo. If you want to get spooked, drop by to San Antonio and visit one of the following haunted sites.

The Alamo

Most of us learned about the deadly history of the Alamo in our history books where a small group of men defended their honor and their freedom against the odds. A battle so fierce was bound to leave spiritual remnants. Some paranormal investigators report feeling cold spots and an overwhelming sense of sadness in the grounds surrounding the Alamo. Some claim the haunting began soon after the battle itself. Mexican soldiers, under orders to completely destroy the Alamo, began running from the mission claiming they had seen spirits or angels with swords of fire emerging from the mission. Security guards have claimed to see the spirits of the Mexican soldiers within the interior corridors and many say that the spirit of a young boy haunts the gift shop.

Menger Hotel

The Menger Hotel is the most haunted hotel in San Antonio and rightly so, given its great history. The most popular ghost is that of a chambermaid named Sallie White who was shot by her jealous husband while she was working. She died on the third floor and some employees and guests see her roaming around there, going about her normal duties. Teddy Roosevelt is often said to make an appearance at the Menger Bar, since he frequented it while trying to recruit men to join the cavalry. Yet another ghost that often makes an appearance is that of Richard King, who founded Kings Ranch in southern Texas. While staying at the Menger, he became quite ill and passed away in his favorite suite. Some have said they have seen his ghost going into this favorite suite.

Train Tracks

The story goes that a school bus filled with children stalled on the train tracks. A train slammed into it and tragically killed all of the children inside. People say that when you park on the train tracks and put your car in neutral, your car inexplicably gets pushed over the train tracks to the safety of the other side. It is said that if you put baby powder on your trunk, you will see the imprints of the tiny hands that have pushed you to safety. Others say they hear the sounds of children laughing and playing in the area.

St. Anthony Hotel

A very lavish hotel in the heart of downtown San Antonio has also been known to host its own spirits. Many people have reported seeing many spirits dressed up in ball gowns entering one of the ballrooms in the hotel as well as child spirits playing and laughing in the garden on the roof. Others have stated that while on the elevator, the spirits of a man in a hat and a woman dressed in red will often catch a ride with you.
