Holistic comes from the term holism, which means a state of wholeness. Any disharmony is a stress to the body and could lead to illness. So to fight a disease, you have a wide range of therapies to choose from, that booster the bodys mechanisms. This is what happens when you take an herb you booster your bodys mechanisms.
The main focus of holistic medicine is preventing illness and maintaining health; viewing health as a balance of the bodys system, mental as well as physical and spiritual. It aims to create a system of true wellness. In order to achieve a natural and harmonious balance you need a disciplined regimen to maintain this harmony. Holistic healing makes you look at the whole person through an analysis of physical, nutritional, emotional, environmental, and social lifestyle values. All of these aspects are interrelated. It makes your conscious and subconscious mind work together. Did you know its your subconscious mind that carries your fears and anxieties?
In conventional medicine anxiety attacks, and fears are treated with a drug to dull the pain but it isnt addressing the pain itself. Holistic healing addresses the whole problem by going through the emotional makeup, looking for triggers that set off the anxiety; works on those triggers; and tries to diffuse them: eliminating the need for drugs.
A combination of therapy/treatment coupled with lifestyle changes is necessary in order to get the subconscious mind in balance and healed. In conventional medicine the main interest is in sickness and prescribing certain drugs, chemically composed, to address the symptoms. In many cases that usually leads to prescribing more drugs to offset the debilitating effects of the first drug.
It does not get rid of the root problem. Thats where holistic medicine comes in. It goes after the root problem.
To better understand what your bodys built-in mechanism is about lets look at the mouth. The mouth has all the receptors that are hard wired to the brain. These receptors produce endorphins or they may make certain glands in the body such as the thyroid, the parathyroid, pituitary, thymus, adrenals in the kidneys, in women the ovaries, in men the testicles. These are all part of our immune system and drug factory.
And speaking of drugs, even herbs come in capsules. But, when you take that herbal capsule you are bypassing the main entry point the tongue. Herbal medicines are meant to go straight to the root of the problem by entering through the mouth, thus the tongue, allowing your body to begin making endorphins. When you take the whole capsule, the chemical has no affect on the tongue or anything else! It now works through your stomach, bypassing the main area that needs to be addressed first.
There is a whole line of therapy that deals with just the tongue. From the time of Hypocrites until the 1900s, doctors were taught what part of the tongue addresses what part of the body; they would read your tongue. In China and India this practice is still continued today. They read the tongue, the inside of the nose, and the iris of the eye to determine what is wrong with the person - and they are dead on.
In conventional medicine when a doctor looks at your tongue hes basically looking for cracks. Hes not reading your tongue hes not looking at the whole picture. For example, there is one part of your tongue that is directly aligned with your liver so you need herbs that treat your liver; same for your kidneys.
Conventional medicine teaches us to take a pill to dull the pain. Holistic healing teaches us to prevent the pain.
