Getting a suntan in the summer is one of the greatest joys of being outdoors. Not only is it relaxing, but also it can help you look healthier, thinner, and sexier. For those that have been tanning for a long time, they know that there are certain tricks to help them get a tan faster, and one that looks better. One possible way to do this is with the use of suntan oil.

Despite what many think, there are differences between suntan lotion and suntan oil. The major difference is the main ingredients, and the tanning results they will provide you. Suntan lotion, for instance, is known for directly protecting the skin from the suns UV rays. Sun tan oil however, is also used to help keep moisture and oils inside of the skin and is geared toward just tanning, and not protecting you from the sun.

Because the substance you are using is oil, it can help in other ways as well. For instance, if you are at the pool or beach, you should keep in mind that the suntan oil is water resistant. This is mostly because the oil will not change its components in water, and can be a great advantage for those wanting to keep on the suntan oil while they are in the water.

If you already have started to get a tan, sun tan oil is known to be effective in terms of enhancing your tan. Of course, the suntan oil is also good for those just starting out. If you want to get into the suntan oil culture, you can also look into more exotic oils that offer even more moisture. Anything from tropical fruits to avocadoes mixed into the sun tan oil can provide an effective tan with the right amounts of moisture and nutrients available.

The primary differences are that suntan lotion is geared toward protecting you from the sun, and suntan oil is geared toward mainly giving you a tan. The other main difference is the consistency. Most suntan lotion is not very oily and gets absorbed into your skin. But suntan oil is quite oily and can stay on your skin for longer periods of time.

If your goal is to just get a tan and you are not worried about the effects of UV rays, suntan oil may be right for you. But if you are worried about the harmful rays from the sun you should consider suntan lotion.
