When you think about the city, Detroit, the first thing you probably think is cars, right? Well, of course, Detroit is known as the automobile production capital of the country, but there is so much more that this beautiful city has to offer. Couples can find romance day or night. Before arriving in Detroit, you will probably want to make reservations at one of the many wonderful hotels in the area. If quaint is what you are looking for, then check the many bed and breakfast establishments just waiting to pamper you with a little extra TLC.
After you have settled in, it will be time to explore the city and all that it has to offer. If you are interested in the history of the automotive, you might want to check out the Automotive Hall of Fame with its full-size replica of the worlds first gas-powered vehicle. GM World introduces you to high-tech through its large exhibit of new cars. If music is more your thing, then hop on over to the Greystone International Hall of Fame/Jazz Museum. This museum is dedicated to jazz and offers vast amounts of information and interesting exhibits.
Maybe you and your sweetheart would like to stroll through lush gardens. If so, then visit the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory and view Michigans largest orchid collection. Other mansions to visit include Cranbrook House and Gardens, Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, Fisher Mansion, Henry Ford Estate, Meadow Brook Hall, and Moross House.
All of these offer tours so that you can experience the luxury of times past. If you like bartering for the freshest fruit and vegetables, then you should visit the Eastern Market in downtown Detroit. It is an open-air market that is open throughout the week.
Maybe youd like to share a picnic and stroll along the Detroit River with your significant other. If so, then Belle Isle offers a 1000 acre island park that also offers a nature center, fishing, tennis courts, and a zoo. Stay till sunset and admire the beautiful skyline of the city.
You can venture out of the city to nearby Grosse Point and visit Chene Park. Top classical, jazz and blues musicians often perform in its riverfront amphitheater. If boating is on the agenda, then visit St. Aubin Park on the Detroit River. You can stroll along the flowered paths and fish or take a boat ride and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the waterfront.
If animals and fish interest you, then visit Belle Isle Aquarium, which is known for its freshwater stingray-breeding program and Detroit Zoo houses over 1000 animals. For those who like to shop, there is a variety of shopping opportunities in Detroit. Greektowns Trappers Alley offers great dining and the Greektown Casino. Visit the Renaissance Center in downtown for a selection of shops, restaurants and movie theaters.
Sporting events abound with your choice of watching the Michigan Wolverines hockey team, Detroit Pistons NBA team, Detroit Lions NFL team, and the Detroit Tigers MLB team. If nightlife beckons, Detroit has plenty of sports bars, dance clubs, and live entertainment. Just take your pick. Whatever your choice, Detroit is a city that never rests and has more than enough activities and sights to entertain anyone. Romance is alive and well in Detroit.
