There is never an off season in New Jersey; choosing a destination is easy in this exciting state. If snow skiing is your passion, there are the mountains of northwest New Jersey, or if you like water fun and sports, there is the Atlantic coast. The many cities of this state offer history, great cuisine and night life. Listed below are a few of the many attractions in the state of New Jersey.
The Delaware River Region
Located in south central New Jersey, this area is rich in history. In Trenton, you can observe the spot where George Washington stood after he crossed the Delaware. At the Old Barracks, you can relive the battles of Trenton and Princeton during the Revolutionary Ware era.. At the waterfront in the town of Camden, you can board the World War II battleship, the USS New Jersey. The arts are also abundant in the Delaware River Region. The following theaters exist in the Camden area: Patriots Theater, Camdens South Jersey Performing Arts Center, Tweeter Theater and the McCarter Center. Nature is also robust in the area at the Pine Barreny, with its one million acres of pine trees and wildlife.
Gateway Region
Located northeast through central New Jersey, this area is a virtual bonanza of history, culture, and art. Start your tour at the Liberty State Park, in Jersey City, where you can view Ellis Island and the Statute of Liberty. This park also features the historic Central Railroad Terminal of New Jersey. As you procede south, you can visit the Newark Museum, the Zimmerli Art Museum in New Brunswick, and view the beautiful Cherry Blossoms of Branch Brook Park in Newark, New Jersey. If youre a sports enthusiast you can view the NFL Jets or Giants at the Meadowlands Stadium or check out the thoroughbreds at the Meadowlands Race Track. There are also many unique shopping malls and centers in the towns of Millburn, Montclair, Ridgewood and Hoboken. There is plenty of night life at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, the John Harms Center for Performing Arts, and the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick. There are also many eateries featuring the unique multi-culture that exists in the region.
Atlantic City Region
Located on the New Jersey coast; besides having one of the worlds most famous boardwalks, the casino gaming tables are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You will find five star dining and world class resort hotels at Atlantic City. Take a stroll down the boardwalk and you will encounter rides, shops, amusements, and plenty of entertainment. There are miles of sandy beaches to ride a bike along, jog or collect seashells. A host of museums exist at Atlantic City such as Ripleys Believe It or Not Museum, Atlantic City Art Center, and Historical Museum at Garden Pier. You can experience an array of wildlife and birds at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge or stop by the Ocean Life Center to observe many creatures of the sea. You may choose to end you tour at the one hundred and seventy-one foot Absecon Light House, built in 1857.
