Start with the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center. The center hosts the annual Kentucky State Fair, and year round events such as flea markets, and livestock shows. It also hosts the National Farm and Machinery Show, and the North American International Livestock Exposition.
The Frazier Museum is a very interesting place. There you can watch films about famous historical figures, spanning over one thousand years of history, on five different screens. On the weekends, historical figures walk around in front of the museum, and can be engaged in conversation.
Don't miss the Spirit of Jefferson Dinner Cruises, a wonderful way to dine.
A beautiful site to see is the Kentucky Derby Festival Great Balloon Glow. This event is before the balloon race and over fifty thousand people attend it to see the balloons fired up, and lit against the evening sky.
You can join in the Great Steamboat race on the Belle of Louisville, by purchasing a ticket and climbing aboard.
If you like amusement parks, then the Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom is for you. It has all the attractions you've come to expect from Six Flags.
The Louisville Zoo is a great tourist attraction, hosting over one thousand three hundred animals. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the day.
If you like baseball, you'll love the Louisville Slugger Museum and Bat Factory. They've been making bats since 1884, and will demonstrate how the bats are made. There is also a tour with much to see.
Visit Glassworks and see how glass is blown. It features many artists working,and teaches classes on glass blowing. You can also purchase hand blown glass.
The Thomas Edison House is the actual home where Edison lived and features exhibits and information on his over one thousand different patents. A very interesting museum.
Checkout the Forest Discovery Center and walk through an indoor forest. They have exhibits and tours featuring trees and everything you always wanted to know about them.
The Kentucky History Center tells the history of Kentuckians, and features it's own historical library.
Locust Grove is a national historic landmark. It spans fifty-five acres of an original farm which was over six hundred acres. There you can see original farm equipment, and a vast collection of books and household items from the period.
Don't miss the Callahan Museum of Printing,House for the Blind. They have information on the history of the blind, and the different types of printing that was developed for them.
The Kentucky Derby is one of the most famous attractions. Over five hundred thousand people attend every year for the famous horse race. Also see the Kentucky Derby Museum, which is the only museum to feature one horse race, in the world.
One of Louisvilles' oldest historical buildings is the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum, known also as Conrads Castle. Take a tour through this massive and very beautiful mansion.
The Little Loom House contains three cabins dating back to 1870. They have tours and demonstrations of weaving, looms, and a large collection of coverlets.
Visit the Louisville Science Center which features an IMAX theater, and teaches the public about math and science.
