One of the big problems and annoyances of going to the beach is that it seems like every person in America has that same idea. You fight the traffic, fight to find parking and fight for a space on the beach, only to see people instead of sandy beaches, waves, animals and natural beauty. Often times you miss the beauty of the beach because of the crowds. However, there are a many undiscovered and less crowded beaches in the United States. These are just as beautiful and lovely as many of the over crowed areas. However, with these beaches you may have to deal with less traffic and people. Here are five good beaches throughout the United States for you to discover: 1) Corolla, Outer Banks, North Carolina; 2) Crystal Beach, Texas; 3) Moshup Beach, Massachusetts; 4) Rockaway Beach, Oregon; and 5) Shi Shi Beach, Washington.
- Corolla, Outer Banks, North Carolina C Located on the Eastern shores of the United States, this is a beach paradise. This area is being developed, so this may not be an undiscovered beach for much longer. However, its beauty will still be perfection. With its charming Southern hospitality and small town feeling, you will feel welcomed wherever you go here.
Not only are the beaches and sea beautiful, Corolla has a wild horse population, lighthouses, a wildlife refuge and many other activities to do and sights to see. There are many activities for children and well as adults. You can enjoy the town while taking a break from the sun and sand, or simply lounge on the beach. The sand and beach are beautiful and you will feel very relaxed away from the crowds.
- Crystal Beach, Texas - This beach is located on the Bolivar peninsula. There are five communities on the peninsula; Crystal Beach is the most populated. However, most of the beachfront property is still undeveloped, giving this area a natural feel. Many of the people who live in Crystal are weekenders, or seasonal residents. Therefore, during weekdays the beaches are even less crowded.
There are several activities to do and the ocean is tame enough for little children to play in. You can also travel to other parts of the peninsula to see a variety of beaches and expand the sights you see. Whatever your pleasure you will find something to do and see in Crystal Beach.
- Moshup Beach, Massachusetts C Located off the Moshup trail in Marthas Vineyard, and also called Aquinnah Public Beach, Moshup Beach is a great beach for families and well as for those who like to sun bathe nude. The beach extends to the Aquinnah Cliffs, and is often over looked for the more well-known beaches in Martha Vineyard. However, the gorgeous cliffs provide a magnificent backdrop for swimming, walking and romping around.
- Rockaway Beach, Oregon C Rockaway has seven miles of sandy beaches. The town boasts a small town feel and a welcoming attitude. This is a great beach if you want to relax and get away from the normal crowded beaches of more popular states. There are beautiful rock formations to gaze upon while you build a sand castle, read a book or just plain relax. The town has many restaurants and stores to explore. The scenery around town is almost as pretty as the beach itself. You will definitely enjoy yourself on Rockaway Beach.
- Shi Shi Beach, Washington C Located in the Olympic National Park of Washington, this beach has been tucked away and hidden from casual beach goers for ages. It is a two-mile stretch of beach. From the beach, you can see the beautiful Point of Arches. You can see eagles, elk, deer, seal and tons of other animals. The beach is protected, and thus has been left undeveloped. This is why it is possible to see so many animals while exploring the beach.
Getting to Shi Shi Beach can be difficult. It is a 10-13 mile hike through the forest. Park authorities have put in place rope ladder and such to help your trip, but it is still difficult. You will need to buy a tidal map showing when and where tides come in. You can easily be caught off guard when they come in.
However, you can travel through the nearby Makah Indian reservation to reach Shi Shi beach. This is only a two-mile hike. Much easier than the other way however, the beach can still be treacherous, so you will still need your tidal map.
Either way you travel the natural beauty of Shi Shi beach will leave you with the desire to come back for more.
Going to the beach can be more difficult than it is relaxing. The crowds can put a damper on your mood. These different and varying beaches have remained undiscovered while still giving you magnificent views, activities and time spent at the beach. Do not be afraid to go where no one has gone before, thats how great discoveries are made.
